USHED STRATEGIC PRIORITIES 2020-2025
Membership Initiative
In accordance with the new Application and Candidate Review Cycle and Monitoring Policy and Procedures and United States Department of Education (USDE) regulations, the Department will launch a membership initiative to expand the acceptance of domestic applications beyond the current geographic boundaries beginning in the fall of 2020 and lift the moratorium on international applications beginning on January 1, 2021.
Data-Informed Determination
The Department will employ data across processes to support decision-making, investigate the acceptance and use of Student Clearinghouse Data as a membership requirement, and assess how predictive analytics might contribute to the accrediting process.
Revenue-Generating Alternatives
The Department will evaluate revenue-generating options, such as grant programs, that are consistent with its mission, beliefs, vision, and future directions.
Accreditation Advocacy
The Department will participate in lobbying activities to educate people more proactively about the significance of accreditation and will serve as an independent voice in the landscape of higher education.
Innovation on the part of the USHED and Member Institutions
The Department will continue to investigate how it can be innovative as an institution and how it can best foster and recognize creativity among its membership.
The Prospects for the Commission
The Department will engage in assessment and evaluation to ensure efficiency in the work of the Department and its Committees, determine if an alternative structure may be required to better support the changing nature and rising demands of accreditation, and conduct an evaluation of the Standards for Accreditation and Requirements for Affiliation to ensure it fulfills its mission.
