Throughout its history, The United States Higher Education Department's (USHED) identity has been intimately associated with fostering trust and confidence in higher education. The Department continues to emphasise the significance of accreditation in the ever-changing higher education environment, as well as the outcomes for its students, member institutions, and the general public, which represent the highest levels of dedication to academic rigour and performance.
The Accreditation Department for Higher Education establishes quality standards for its different member institutions. USHED Commissioners, employees, and assessors measure, verify, and improve the quality of higher education institutions by defining objectives, equal accrediting standards, analytical self-assessments, and objective peer evaluations.
As the Department celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019, it revealed a new logo in remembrance of its past and present, and in anticipation of its future. This logo reflects the mission, vision, and values of USHED and is backed by these pillars:
