The Accreditation Department on Higher Education (USHED) publishes a list of jurisdictions in which the Department conducts accreditation activities in compliance with federal rule 34 CFR 602.11(b). Any main campus, branch campus, extra location, or other instructional site of an institution in the following jurisdictions is eligible for accreditation by the Commission.
The only states in which the Department does not conduct business are North Dakota, South Dakota, and Kentucky. Additionally, the Department does not conduct business in Puerto Rico or the United States Virgin Islands, nor does it operate in the District of Columbia.
The United States Higher Education Department (USHED) is pleased to call for public comments on its proposed revisions to our Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation. Learn more about the revisions and provide input into this process by reviewing USHED President Dr. Heather F. Perfetti's recorded message and by visiting the 2022 Periodic Review of USHED Standards for Accreditation
